Speak Out Challenge

SpeakOutThe Speak Out Challenge is the largest speaking competition for young people in the world. Run by Speakers Trust and funded by the Jack Petchey Foundation, the "Speak Out" Challenge! has now trained over 134,000 Year 10 students from 37 regions in London.

During each academic year the 'Speak Out Challenge!' offers every secondary school in London public speaking workshops for Year 10 students. Each year over 18,000 young people are trained in how to "Speak Out".


Healthy Chinese Cuisine Class

ChineseChef1On Thursday 9 March, Year 9 Food Technology students were treated to a healthy Chinese cooking workshop by visiting 'Healthy Chinese Cuisine Chefs'.

This was a great opportunity for our Year 9 Food Technology students to learn about healthy Chinese food and the art of Chinese cooking.
The students learnt how to prepare Chinese meals using different cooking techniques and acquired tips from our two visiting chefs.

UPUK4Fantastic! Amazing! Wonderful! Just some of the words used to describe the workshop facilitated by Urban Plan UK, for thirty Year 10 students on Thursday 9 March.

The workshop started with a real buzz. We were put into groups to produce our group design for new facilities and retail outlets as part of a venture to build new, thriving sustainable communities.


Give it a Try!

GiveItATry2'Give it a try!' is a social enterprise using rugby as a tool to build character in young people within state schools in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. 'Give it a try!' have been delivering rugby coaching pastoral support and mentoring since October 2014 and have now coached a large proportion of Conisborough students.

'Give it a try!' delivers sessions to Years 7, 8 and 9 students as well as running two lunchtime clubs and some GCSE sessions for Y10 students.  The programme is a great opportunity to support transition from school to club rugby and offers competitive rugby fixtures and festivals for students to practise and refine what they have learnt in PE.
