Extra-Curricular Achievements

George Harrold 10TwebAt Conisborough College, we believe that achievement in all areas of school life should be rewarded and celebrated. We challenge all our students to excel in academic, cultural and sporting activities.

We would like to celebrate the extra-curricular sporting activities of one of our Apollo students; George Harrold in 10T, who recently competed in the European Hapkido Championships in Murcia, Spain.

Hapkido is a Korean form of martial arts which George has been practising since the age of 7.  He has competed in many different competitions in several different countries.  George achieved two gold medals in Murcia which is an incredible achievement.

Well done George!

Apollo Employability Day

On Friday 12 February, the Apollo Faculty held an Employability Day for their students. The day was a huge success with over 34 volunteer employers who came to interview students and 32 visitors who ran a Careers Speed Networking event.

We welcomed a variety of different employers on the day, including Phoenix Housing, Matt Wells Design, Wilmott Dixon and Goldsmiths University. Their roles included local government officer, Cabinet officer, public health commissioning manager, educational psychologist and HR Director.

Students came dressed in appropriate business wear and looked exceptionally smart. They found the day very informative in preparation for their work experience interviews.  During the day students had lessons in interview techniques as well as learning about careers and professions.  They also learnt about the roles of the employers who attended.

At the end of the day some students were awarded 'You've been hired' certificates as they showed great flair in their mock interviews. Students were extremely positive.

"The day was great, I learnt so much."

"The day was tough and I was so nervous in my interview but I'm glad I did it."
