This term ended with a Christmas bang as the Technology department hosted their fantastic annual Christmas lunch for a group of Senior Citizens in our local community.
Several students from Mrs Burford's Food Preparation and Nutrition groups, prepared, cooked and served a two course Christmas meal for twenty guests.
The food was prepared to a very high standard and was served professionally by the students.
The students demonstrated a keen approach to food hygiene, displayed many different cooking skills, excellent time management and team work throughout the event. They were all proud to be involved in this event and successfully delivered a very high level of hospitality to our guests. This was confirmed by the positive feedback from the group of senior citizens who were also very impressed by the efforts of the staff from the Technology Department.
The Christmas lunch for our local senior citizens is an annual event which we intend to continue throughout successive years. Events such as these give our Food Technology students the opportunity to showcase their cooking skills and also to give something back to the local community. This ultimately enhances students confidence and social skills. Congratulations to all the students for their outstanding efforts during this event and a big thank you to our Food Technician Miss Scott and the Music department for their support on the day.
