CSC1The Conisborough Sports Crew are a group of committed Year 9 students who are given training to help run Sports events for primary schools across the Borough. This helps to support the national 'School Games' sports strategy.

The Crew are currently being trained to assist in a number of events coming up through the year, the first of which was The Lord's Taverners Boccia competition.  Boccia is a disability sport where players aim to propel balls close to a target ball. Two sides compete as individuals, pairs or as a team of three over a set number of ends. Points are accumulated over the course of a match to find a winner. A ball can be rolled, thrown or kicked. This event was run in conjunction with Panathlon and gives the opportunity for students with moderate to severe learning difficulties to take part in a sporting competition with a pathway to a London wide final.

Zambia Tour 2017

In July 2017 three Key Stage 4 students went to Zambia with the Tag Rugby Development Trust as part of a team of volunteers to teach Tag Rugby & run an exciting inter school festival. Whilst there they were involved with numerous schools and hundreds of children with the aim of improving lives and giving them a fantastic & exciting experience. The work also involved working with local teachers, rugby coaches & volunteers to ensure that the work of the charity is sustainable in the area & country.

Students also worked on a community project where they helped build additional classrooms to a local school building. As students from an inner London School, this was a life changing opportunity!
