IMG 8003At Conisborough College, we believe that achievement in all areas of school life should be rewarded and celebrated.  We challenge all our students to excel in academic, cultural and sporting activities.

We would like to celebrate the extra-curricular sporting activities of one of our Titan students. We are pleased to announce that Syriah achieved her junior black belt in Tae Kwan Do.

Syriah attends a club in Catford called The Panther Tae Kwan Do - Black Belt Academy, where she practices patterns and sparing twice a week as well as taking on some teaching duties. This art has taught Syriah self confidence and self discipline. After achieving her Black Belt, the club want her to take on a more active role within the club and become a master and teach more children.

Syriah will continue with her practicing and hopes to compete at Olympic level one day and maybe even start her own club.

Dr Hon Byer Suckoo visit

IMG 6939webIn early September Dr. Hon. Esther Byer Suckoo, Minister for Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development in Barbados visited Conisborough College.

Dr Suckoo met with a group of Titan students and spoke to them about how she became a Medical Doctor and then a Politician.  The students were interested in the talk and were eager with their questions.

IMG 6937web"She is one of the most important people in her country. She told us about how we can all achieve what we want if we try hard enough. It was a great experience and very informative."

"Dr Suckoo gave us an idea of what it would be like to work in the medical profession. When she was studying, her professor would ask questions about topics in chapters they had not yet covered in lectures, to see who was serious about becoming a doctor."

"It was an insightful meeting. I learned that your career can take you all over the world. It was also interesting to hear from somebody who is from a different country."

"She was the first politician that I have ever met and her being a woman has made me think about what I might want to become in the future. I had not thought about politics before but it is something I might like to do in the future."

"It was an inspiring experience and it gave me some ideas about what I can actually achieve in life if I put in the effort. I also learnt that if you want to achieve something then the only person that will stop you is yourself."

The students were a credit to the Titan Faculty and hopefully this opportunity will inspire them to great things in the future.
