In early September Dr. Hon. Esther Byer Suckoo, Minister for Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development in Barbados visited Conisborough College.
Dr Suckoo met with a group of Titan students and spoke to them about how she became a Medical Doctor and then a Politician. The students were interested in the talk and were eager with their questions.
"She is one of the most important people in her country. She told us about how we can all achieve what we want if we try hard enough. It was a great experience and very informative."
"Dr Suckoo gave us an idea of what it would be like to work in the medical profession. When she was studying, her professor would ask questions about topics in chapters they had not yet covered in lectures, to see who was serious about becoming a doctor."
"It was an insightful meeting. I learned that your career can take you all over the world. It was also interesting to hear from somebody who is from a different country."
"She was the first politician that I have ever met and her being a woman has made me think about what I might want to become in the future. I had not thought about politics before but it is something I might like to do in the future."
"It was an inspiring experience and it gave me some ideas about what I can actually achieve in life if I put in the effort. I also learnt that if you want to achieve something then the only person that will stop you is yourself."
The students were a credit to the Titan Faculty and hopefully this opportunity will inspire them to great things in the future.
