Fantastic! Amazing! Wonderful! Just some of the words used to describe the workshop facilitated by Urban Plan UK, for thirty Year 10 students on Thursday 9 March.
The workshop started with a real buzz. We were put into groups to produce our group design for new facilities and retail outlets as part of a venture to build new, thriving sustainable communities.
The first part of the project was to become familiar with our skills and abilities as we assigned the four main roles to group members: Planning and Design, Marketing Sales, Financial Director and Production/Development. We had the opportunity to use model buildings to set out our design to suit the criteria, using our different roles in the group.
At the end of the task we were judged by a panel of top professionals in the industry. One group was judged overall winner with a winning prize visit to City Hall in London and a business lunch.
