Key Stage 4 Business Studies

GCSE in Business Studies is a nationally recognised, qualification designed to provide you with a choice of routes into further education or employment. This course teaches the skills and knowledge (example of skills you will develop are communication, teamwork, leadership, presentation, interpersonal cognitive and computer skills) you need to follow a career in any industry.

Key Subject aims:

GCSE qualification in Business studies is designed to:

  • actively engage students in the study of business and to develop them as effective and independent learners, and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds
  • allow students to develop and apply their business knowledge, understanding and skills to contemporary issues in a range of local, national and global contexts
  • enable students to appreciate the range of perspectives of different business stakeholders
  • enable students to consider the extent to which business activity can be ethical and sustainable.
  • help students develop valuable interpersonal skills (team working, communication, analytical and presentation skills).

Examination Details:

Two exams at the end of the course, each 90 minutes long. There is no controlled assessment.

Some questions will be multiple choices; some will be extended writing to test your ability to explain why you made a particular decision.

Accountant, Marketer, Stock broker, Public Relations executive , Business Executive, Solicitor, Banker, Sociologist, Administrator, Entrepreneur, Economist, etc. Equips pupils with general business knowledge for any career.
