If you choose Media Studies as an option in Year 9, you will be following the AQA GCSE syllabus.
GCSE Media Studies allows you to earn 2 full GCSEs.
You will be able to use a wide range of media equipment. In addition to practical work, you will also have to think, analyse and write in response to a range of media texts – including your own! You will study Advertising, Film, Television, Music Promotion, Radio, Newspapers, Website Design and new media.
In Year 10 to complete 3 controlled condition (exam) pieces set by the exam board. Controlled Conditions (60% of GCSE)
The topics are:
You complete on extended research, production and analysis pieces of coursework using two media which counts as 60% of your 2nd GCSE.
Exam (40% of GCSE) Examination: Gaming: Promotion and marketing of computer games, Television News. The examination for the 2nd GCSE (40% of GCSE) assesses knowledge of media industries and also requires you to respond to current journalism about media topics.

Pupils make strong progress in subjucts such as English and Languages. They are articulate and literate.
