Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
 The programme of study is designed to encourage students to learn through an analytical and practical approach, using a variety of sources and materials. Students will achieve an understanding of applications and their implications, and work towards becoming independent learners and autonomous users of emerging technologies.

In Year 7 you will study:
- ICT Systems
- Internet / E-safety
- Digital Imaging (Bitmap and Vector)
- Designing and Testing Computer Games
In Year 8 you will study:
- Web Creation
- Creation of a Video
- Creation of a Soundtrack
In Year 9 you will study for:
- OCR National Unit 1 - ICT Skills for Business
- Functional Skills Test Levels 1 or 2
Key Stage 4
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
ICT Nationals Level 2
Under the OCR “Level 2 Nationals in ICT”, students have the opportunity to gain up two qualifications (each equivalent to 1 GCSE), as follows:
CORE SUBJECT
- Level 2 National First Award in ICT All students will study for this qualification under the CORE subjects. Total GCSEs = 1 (equivalent)
- ICT (Optional) Level 2 National Award
This vocational course aims to develop pupils’ skills, knowledge and understanding of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) functions, environments and operations. Through the implementation of coursework, pupils develop the ability to work autonomously and effectively in specialist areas of ICT. These qualifications are also designed to enable students to enter employment and undertake other related occupational qualifications, to pursue careers in computing, communication or the multi-media industry.
Assessment
Work is internally marked and externally moderated by an OCR visiting moderator. Each qualification will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.
The course requires students to engage in the following activities:
- gathering of appropriate information
- creative use of digital applications
- efficient handling of information
- production of outcomes that are fit for the purpose
- effective management of projects
- giving and receiving feedback
On completion of this course, students could go into further education to undertake:
- Level 3 National qualifications
- AS / A Level (Computing)
- GCE ICT / Computing
