Please see Mrs Chambers-Nembhard for more details on how to join.
Come along and learn new life skills, eat more varieties of food, gain greater appreciation of food and most importantly learn that food does not just appear!
The Cooking Club is now in its fifth year of the national network of cooking clubs, aiming to teach the young people and parents involved to cook 'good food that is good for you'.
During the first year of the Cooking Club, students gained a basic knowledge of health and safety in the kitchen and how to use a variety of Kitchen equipment. They have also learned about measuring ingredients, cutting skills, pastry skills and how to cook healthy food.
Autumn Update 2015
The Something Tasty Cooking Club endeavours to encourage young people to develop a habit of healthy eating and learn to make the right choices in selecting ingredients for a healthy diet.
"The group is really great and I have developed my cooking skills, for example; bread crumbing. My family love the food I bring home and the fact that I made it". - Israel 9A
"Cooking Club is important to me as it is a lifelong skill. We learn how to make healthy meals, macaroni cheese being my favourite. We have also made cakes and desserts. I always look forward to Tuesday's class as we always have fun". - Keelan 7F
"The Cooking Club can be stressful, but also awesome! We recently made apple pie along with lots of other delicious food. The food makes my mouth water so much that I want to just dig in without using a knife and fork". - Mokhtiar 7O
"I joined the Cooking Club because I wanted to learn to bake at home and also how to make new food that I'd never tried before". - Nahum 7O
"I wanted to join the Cooking Club so that I could cook for my family. It is also great fun, I particularly enjoyed making the macaroni cheese and the rock cakes". - Isaak 7A
The Cooking Club continues to be a very popular after school club with a continued waiting list. If you are interested in putting your name down for the Spring or Summer term, please see Mrs Chambers Nembhard for a permission letter.
