This term, the Resource Base and the Specialist Group had the opportunity to visit the Gurdwara in Gravesend – a Sikh place of worship.

The visit aimed to discover more about how Sikhs use the Gurdwara, the importance of the Guru Granth Sahib (Sikh holy text), and to experience the Langar meal.

We also sat amongst the community members and listened to Kirtan, Sikh devotional music based on Shabads.  The students really enjoyed seeing the beautiful buildings and seeing their sacred symbols as a lived experience.

Everyone received a very warm welcome from the Gurdwara members, and the students really appreciated the generous food and drinks from the Gurdwara  –  There were no pakoras left!

All the students had a great day, that provided a useful understanding of the significance of a Gurdwara.
